I know that you are terrified. Will you ever be good enough? Will your friends ever get tired of you? Will you ever be able to stand up for yourself? Will your mind ever stop spinning? Will your tears ever stop flowing? Will your heart ever feel like it’s not made of lead?
Will you ever he able to grasp that one day you will cease to exist? Will you ever be able to stop being terrified that one day the earth will collapse beneath you? Will you ever stop worrying that you’ll combust from the pounding heart you get at the thought of failure?
Although we are the same body, we are nothing alike because I can’t understand you and you can’t understand me and we’re constantly feuding, but I’m trying my hardest to love you.
Because I see love in my friends eyes and you just wonder ‘how long have they secretly hated me?’ and I feel infinite even though I know death is inevitable and you fell dead already because ‘what’s the point?’ and I feel like my life is finally coming together and you feel that you life is 'always on the brink of destruction.’ and I’m learning to love every part of me and you 'can’t see a single good part of your soul.’
We are contradictions and that’s what makes us constantly self destruct when we should self construct. and all I hope is one day we’ll live as one happy unit (even though I secretly feel the same way you do.)
this poem was supposed to be about me lifting myself up, but now you’ve come. and when you come, you hit straight like a bullet and its nearly impossible to escape you again.
